MESSAGE
Paul received his divine call and commission from Christ. He proclaimed the gospel with boldness. Expectedly he made Christ the centre of his message. So the Jews living in Damascus wanted to kill him. The change in Paul’s attitude surprised them that they could not believe him. He had knowledge of the plot and escaped through the help of some of his followers to Arabia where he stayed for three years on route Jerusalem. When he eventually arrived, they did not readily absorb him probably because of his notoriety or no information on his conversion, commission and conviction of an apostolic call. Barnabas helped Paul’s ministry at this time because he made a full statement of the evidence of transformation in Paul’s life.
Consequently they admitted him into their fellowship, recognized him as a Christian and an apostle. Barnabas was worthy friend in need and a mentor who guaranteed Paul at this critical period of his ministry. Paul openly and fearlessly defended the doctrine again they wanted to kill him but he escaped through the help of the brethren.
You should know that your friendship and prompt intervention in the life and ministry of God’s servant during a decisive moment can make the difference for the church.
