TOPIC: THE SURPASSING VALUE OF CHRIST.
BIBLE READING: Philippians 3:2-11

MESSAGE
Paul valued himself on the advantages of birth, education, and eternal conformity to the law. He had all that pertained to moral, Character and to religion. He initially thought that all these were of vast advantage in the matter of salvation. He also saw them as laying the foundation of a hope of future advancement in honor and wealth in this world. He relied on them to estimate his own character and they had hindered him from embracing the true faith.

However, he discovered that all these constituted an obstacle to his salvation. Therefore, he renounced all dependence on them in order to obtain and retain his salvation. They were to him worthless “on account of Christ”. He was ready to sacrifice everything in order to win Christ. He deliberately counted these achievements as “loss”. Valuable as they might be, he regarded all his possessions as incomparable to the knowledge of Christ, the Redeemer.

Consequently, he gave up his brilliant prospects in material comfort; he abandoned the hope of honor and distinction; and he gave up his dearest friend and separated himself from his loved ones. He faithfully endured the severe effects of these sacrifices so that he could embrace the surpassing value of Christ as his only enduring heritage.
In the matter of ministry, all external advantages of your birth and heritage, morality and rituals are utterly worthless because you cannot attain your approval through them. The knowledge of the Redeemer must be your priority and most valuable desire.
Shalom.

PRAYER: Lord help me to treasure and value your undying love for my soul. Amen.
